Moeen Ali filled in for regular white-ball skipper Jos Buttler in the recently concluded T20I series against Pakistan. The All rounder led his team to a 4-3 series victory in Pakistan’s den. Meanwhile, Jos Buttler is yet to recover from his calf injury and be fully fit for the World Cup.
Buttler is going to be crucial for England with his bat. The wicketkeeper batter was in terrific form in the Indian T20 League this year as he won the coveted orange cap for being the highest run scorer. However, the 32-year-old hasn’t enjoyed the same success at the international level as he has scored 87 runs in six innings at an average of 14. Considering Buttler’s form, it would be better for England to release him from captaincy responsibilities and let him focus on his batting.
