Batters with most T20 hundreds ft. Babar Azam

Babar Azam hit a fabulous hundred against Islamabad United in the PSL 2024. The star batter scored 111 runs in 63 balls which included 14 fours and two sixes. The Pakistan batter got to his hundred in just 49 balls and helped Peshawar Zalmi to score 201 runs on the board. Along with some support from Saim Ayub from the other end, Babar looked brilliant in the middle.

The former skipper of Pakistan hit some lovely drives and mercilessly smashed the bowlers across all parts of the ground. The crowd was surely entertained by the performance of Azam who seemed to be on a different level. Given the nature of the wicket, it was a great knock. The opener of Peshawar had an able ally in Ayub who scored 38 runs in 21 balls and assisted his skipper.

Babar has been a great servant of Pakistan cricket over the years. Following the exit of the team from the ODI WC 2023, he stepped down as the skipper of the team. Since then, he has been enjoying in the middle as a pure batter. It was one such evening, where Azam expressed himself as a batter. The 29-year-old was in full flow and looked nearly flawless in his stay in the middle.

In the process, Babar became just the 2nd batter to score 11 or more T20 hundreds. The first on the list is Universe Boss, Chris Gayle, who still holds the record of most hundreds with a whopping 22 T20 tons to his name. Four batters have scored eight hundreds in T20 cricket. Modern-day greats like Virat Kohli, David Warner, Aaron Finch, and Michael Klinger have eight T20 hundred to their name.

Four batters have seven T20 hundreds to their name. India’s skipper Rohit Sharma, Australia’s sensational batter Glenn Maxwell, former England batter, Luke Wright, and former Kiwi batter Brendon McCullum have seven T20 hundreds to their name. Babar has a good chance of getting close to Gayle in the days to come. He could actually go on to surpass Gayle in that regard.
