India and Pakistan faced off in their opening campaign on October 23 and the Men in Blue got the better of their arch-rivals, all thanks to Virat Kohli’s heroics. To add more to the knock, when India were reeling at 31/4 chasing a target of 160, Kohli’s unbeaten 82 saw the team rise above the fiery opponents.
The Indian great bagged his 14th Player of the Match (POTM) award in the shortest format of the game, and thus went on to become the player with the most POTM awards, overtaking Mohammad Nabi’s tally of 13. He yet again scored an unbeaten 64 off 44 balls against Bangladesh and received his 15th Player of the Match award.
