Antonio Conte, one of the most high-profile football coaches, currently plying his trade at English club Tottenham Hotspur has slammed the reports linking him to former club Juventus.

The reports have emerged after Massimiliano Allegri’s position came under scrutiny due to Juventus’s poor performance. The Italian club is currently lingering at eighth position in Seria A having earned just 10 points in seven matches. The Old Lady were recently beaten by newly promoted team Monza before the international break in what could be the last nail in Allegri’s coffin as Juventus manager.

The Italian media has since then linked Conte for a move to Juventus, his former club, as manager. Conte however has squashed all the reports and brushed aside the links calling them disrespectful. Ahead of their Premier League match against Arsenal on Sunday, Conte said, “This is disrespectful for the coach that works in Juventus and also disrespectful for me working for Tottenham,”

Talking to Reuters, the Italian also pointed to a new contract between Tottenham and him saying, “There doesn’t exist a right time (to sign a contract). It could be tomorrow. It could be the last day of the Premier League season. The most important thing for me and the club is to understand we want to continue together, to go in the same direction.”

“At the right time, I will take the best decision. At this moment, I’m really happy,” said Antonio Conte.

Tottenham will play against Arsenal in what is famously called the North London Derby on Saturday. Currently, the Conte-managed side sit third in the Premier League having won five out of seven games so far. They have amassed 7 points one less than the table topper Arsenal who won six of their games this season.

Tottenham are one of the only two sides to remain unbeaten in the league so far with Manchester City being the other team. The Premier League returns on Saturday after games were suspended due to the international break.
