However, when the talismanic batter reached the 16-run mark against Shakib Al Hasan’s men, he surpassed Jayawardene and currently stands at the top with 1141 runs at an average of 81.50. Amongst the active cricketers, Rohit Sharma, the Indian skipper, lies next to him with 963 runs and it remains to see if the record would be broken anytime soon.
