David Warner loses temper, involves in a heated spat with Mathew Wade during Big Bash League encounter

Mathew Wade and David Warner

The Big Bash League is reaching the fag end with less than 20 games left to play. Alongside the big innings from individual players, high-scoring fixtures, jaw-dropping catches, the spicy individual battles within the field are making the tournament a must-watch. In one such incident during the ongoing Big Bash League season, David Warner’s clash with Matthew Wade added to the excitement of the league.

While chasing the moderate total of 136, Hobart Hurricanes were under severe pressure as they had lost three wickets for 20 runs. Things could have gone from bad to worse had Sydney Thunder held on to Wade’s catch. The left-handed wicket-keeper batsman added 79 runs to the fourth wicket alongside Tim David to make the game a one-sided affair.

The game was going in the Hurricanes’ favor when the tension rose between Green (Sydney Thunder) and Matthew Wade (Hobart Hurricanes). The southpaw pulled out of his stance when Green had started his run-up. At the end of the over, we saw both engaging in words of war.

Post the drinks break, Wade approached his national teammate, David Warner. However, the Australian gate pushed the wicket keeper away, sending the crowd crazy.

After the game, David Warner said:

“I’m picking my battle — he is smaller, I will take him on.”

“Actually, I don’t know, honestly I don’t know. It was something between these two, I don’t know if it’s history or not. But honestly I’ve got no idea what it was.”

Hobart Hurricanes chased down the target imposed by Sydney Thunder with ease at Blundstone Arena. Tim David’s 76 from 41 deliveries helped the team get over the line with no major casualties. The player had five fours and six sixes in his innings against Sydney Thunder on Sunday.

Hobart Hurricanes will face Perth Scorchers on January 18th in their next Big Bash League game, whereas Sydney Thunder will play Melbourne Renegades on January 19th. These games will prove detrimental for both sides as they are lurking outside the top four.
