The Big Bash League 2022/23 (BBL 12) is ongoing and fans are hoping to witness action-packed games for almost every single match. As things stand, on January 1, 2023, Sunday, Sydney Sixers and Brisbane Heat competed against each other in Match 25 of the highly competitive tournament.
It was a high-scoring game with the Heat coming out on top by winning the contest by 15 runs after putting on 224 runs on the board on the back of Nathan McSweeney’s quickfire 84. However, it was Josh Brown who gave the team the much-needed push with his quickfire 62. While there were many moments to take away from the game, Michael Neser’s catch in the 19th over off Mark Steketee during the chase from the Sixers turned out to be the moment of the game.

Sydney Sixers fall short despite Himalayan effort against Brisbane Heat in BBL 12
With Heat setting a massive target on the board, the Sixers almost chased down the target, although they fell short of the target by 16 runs post getting bowled out for 209 runs. To add more, it was the likes of Josh Phillippe, James Vince and Jordan Silk who stood up for the team with their mighty effort in chasing the target down but in vain.
While Phillippe perished for a quickfire 27, Vince and Silk made their way back to the dressing room after 41 runs apiece, bringing the Sixers closer to what could have been a massive victory. Tasting their third defeat, the Sixers remained in the third position in the points table with 8 points to their name.
On the other hand, it was a much-needed turnaround for the Heat who are struggling to set things right in the ongoing edition of the BBL 12. To add more, the Heat have played 6 games in the contest so far and have managed to win only 2 out of them, with the second win coming on Sunday against the Sixers.
As things stand, let us take a look at a few Twitter reactions to Michael Neser’s catch:
Not out surely as their feet touched the ground outside the field of play

Utterly ridiculous. That is not what the law book had in mind
— Andrew McKenna (@talkMacca) January 1, 2023
Ridiculous rule

Not out for me. As said can just hop around the boundary for 300 yards if want.
— Jase Ives ??? (@JaseIves) January 1, 2023
I hope that was 6. Or you'll get people fielding outside the boundary rope in death overs knowing they'll be fine if they jump.
But I've genuinley got no idea on the rule

Not out, player left the field of play!
— Nick Calvert (@TriggerCalvert) January 1, 2023
Not out because the fielder should jump from inside the field to stop a six. A similar decision was made against India some time back. Kohli was captain.

Not out, if its out, then it's a ridiculous call.
