The enthralling cricket continued in the Big Bash League 2022-23 as Sydney Thunder and Melbourne Renegades locked horns in the 7th match of the season. Thunder captain Jason Sangha won the toss and opted to bat first. Openers Matthew Gikes and Alex Hales walked out to the middle to give a blazing start to their side. During the first innings of the match, a moment went viral on the internet where two fans failed to catch the ball in the crowd.
The incident took place in the fifth ball of the 15th over of the innings bowled by Tom Rogers. Alex Ross smashed a good length delivery over long-off for a six. Two people in the crowd tried to catch the ball with one of them attempting a one-handed catch. However, both of them failed to grab the ball.

Rilee Rossouw scores a brilliant fifty for Thunder
Coming back to the match, Thunder lost their openers cheaply as they were reduced to 23/2 after 4.4 overs. Thunder further lost two more wickets and were reeling at 57/4 in 9.1 overs. Seeing their team in trouble, Rilee Rossouw and Alex Ross got together at the crease and stitched a 55-run partnership between the two.
Rossouw scored a brilliant 53 off 38 balls smashing three fours and four sixes. His innings was ended by Tom Rogers as Thunder lost their fifth wicket on the score of 112. Alex Ross further added some crucial runs for the sixth wicket with Olivier Davies.
The duo added 32 runs together as Ross scored a crucial 39 off 23 balls with the help of three fours and two sixes. After Ross’ dismissal, Davies continued his innings and scored important runs at the death as he remained unbeaten on 33 off 18. His innings was studded with four fours and a six. Chris Green also played a brilliant cameo of 10 runs off 5 balls to take Thunder to 174/6 after the end of their allotted 20 overs. Tom Rogers was the pick of the bowlers for Melbourne who picked up 2/41 in four overs.
In reply to Thunder, Renegades were 117/4 after 15 overs.
