The 4th match of the Big Bash season 12 brought an easy win for Melbourne Stars over Hobart Hurricanes on Friday. While the game had some great moments, one that is getting increasingly viral came on the first ball of the last over in the second inning.
Coming in as a fielding sub, Melbourne Stars Clint Hinchliffe runs from point to towards the boundary line and took a great diving catch. The catch came off on a Trent Boult bowl after he bowled a short delivery to Joel Paris. With the target seeming impossibly far, Paris swings at the delivery but mistimes it over the point.
Hinchliffe who had come in as a substitute was quick on his feet and covered a great length to reach the ball and grab it with a diving effort. The catch has been seen thousands of times on Twitter so far.

As for the match, the Hurricanes won the toss and invited the Stars to put runs on the board. Coming onto bat first Star’s openers Joe Clarke and Tom Rogers had a great start as they added 54 runs before the first wicket fell. Clarke however kept playing with the same intent and aggression. In 66 balls the wicketkeeper batter brought out a sensational century at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
On the back of Clarke’s century, the Stars posted a huge 184 runs target on the board. Coming onto chasing the target, Hurricanes had a decent start as openers Ben McDermott (17) and D’Arcy Short (15) started off cautiously. None of the Hurricanes batters however managed to come up with a half-century knock and as a result of it, the whole team faltered at just 145 runs.
As a result, the Hurricanes lost the match by a significant 38 runs margin. Following this win, the Stars move to third whereas the Hurricanes have dropped to the seventh spot on the table.
