The Big Bash League 2022/23 (BBL 12) is ongoing and the teams are giving it their all to win the title of the highly-competitive tournament, with every passing day, the league is growing in stature and players from all around the world are leaving no stone unturned to take part in the contest.

As things stand, on January 1, 2023, Sunday, Perth Scorchers faced off against Melbourne Renegades in Match 24 and it was the former who took home the win on the back of a stupendous batting display from batter Josh Inglis. One moment that caught the eye of the fans was his unorthodox shot in the fourth ball of the 18th over off Tom Rogers, when the Scorchers were reeling at 131/4 chasing a target of 156.

To add more to the match, it was the Renegades who won the toss and elected to bat first, although the pitch favours the team batting second most of the time. Much to the delight of the Australian fans, it was the veteran Aaron Finch who lifted the team from the labyrinth after getting restricted to 32/3 early in the innings. Fans, who took cognizance of Finch’s innings, went crazy on the internet and claimed that the batter still has a lot of cricket left in him.

Eventually, the Renegades managed to inch past the 150-run mark and set a defendable target against the mighty Scorchers’ batting line-up. As far as the Scorchers’ batting is concerned, the opener and South African veteran Faf du Plessis gathered 39 runs in 29 balls and steadied the team, setting the perfect tone to chase down the target.

While Cameron Bancroft scored a 32-ball 46, Inglis, on the other hand, scored a well-made 47 and helped the team reach the target with 5 wickets to spare. To add more to the points table, the Scorchers are the toppers of the rankings while the Nic Maddinson-led team are ranked fifth in the table with 6 points to their name.
