As India thrashed Pakistan by 228 runs in the Super 4 match of the Asia Cup 2023, a viral video shocked cricket fans. Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar made a startling confession in the viral video. His comments have sent shockwaves through the cricketing world as they relate to India legend Sachin Tendulkar.
In the video, Akhtar admitted to deliberately attempting to cause life-threatening injuries to legendary Indian batter Sachin Tendulkar during a match. The match he is talking about is the infamous India vs. Pakistan 3rd Test match of the 2006 series. It was played at the National Stadium in Lahore.

In the viral video, Akhtar confessed to his sinister intentions. He said, “I want to reveal this today: I really wanted to injure Sachin in that match… I was determined to hurt Sachin at any cost in that match. And I kept at it, although Inzamam-ul-Haq asked me to bowl in front of the wickets. It’s worth noting that earlier, Akhtar admitted that he had tried to inflict harm on World Cup-winning captain MS Dhoni in a similar manner.”
Did Shoaib Akhtar feel guilty for his sin?
Unbelievably, Akhtar expressed no visible signs of guilt or remorse as he revealed that he intentionally aimed for Tendulkar’s helmet during the match. He even went so far as to say, “So I deliberately hit on his helmet and even thought that he (Sachin) would be dead… I saw the replay and found that the ball hit his forehead. I then tried to injure him again.” It’s worth noting that this viral clip is from an interview Akhtar gave to Sportskeeda in 2022.
Earlier, in 2021, while speaking with Sports Tak, Shoaib Akhtar revealed that he intentionally bowled a dangerous beamer to MS Dhoni. He also said that he tried to threaten Dhoni and get him off the ground. It’s crucial to highlight that the deliberate use of beamers is strictly prohibited in international cricket and is considered an illegal delivery.
