#ThrowbackThursday – Unveiling the life of a Shah Rukh Khan’s leading lady that quit films at 27 and married a billionaire business tycoon!

Shah Rukh Khan

Gayatri Joshi made an incredible film debut. In 2004, the model-turned-actress made her Bollywood debut in Ashutosh Gowariker’s Swades, starring opposite Shah Rukh Khan. Despite its lacklustre box office performance, the movie is recognised as one of the best social dramas ever produced in Hindi cinema. Gayatri’s acting was also commended. However, despite everything, actress Gayatri said goodbye to a bright future in cinema within months of the movie’s premiere.

Gayatri, who was born in 1977, started her career in show business as a model in the late 1990s, appearing in advertisements for companies like Philips, Godrej, LG, Ponds, Bombay Dyeing, and Sunsilk. Gayatri competed in Miss India 1999 and placed among the top five. She was crowned Miss India International in 2000 and went to Japan as the nation’s representative at Miss International. A few years later, Gayatri made her Bollywood debut with Swades, but by then, she was engaged to business magnate Vikas Oberoi. After getting married in 2005, Gayatri stopped making films to concentrate on her new life.

The heroine of Shah Rukh Khan married Vikas Oberoi:

A wealthy family owns Oberoi Realty, a multibillion-dollar company that is run by Vikas Oberoi. He is developing Mumbai’s first Ritz-Carlton hotel and residences, and Forbes Magazine has dubbed him a real estate tycoon. He also owns the Westin Hotel. Oberoi’s net worth as of January 2024 is $4.9 billion (about Rs 40,600 crore), according to the magazine. According to Forbes India’s 2023 rich list, this places him as the 58th richest Indian.

Gayatri Joshi and Vikas Oberoi travelled to Italy in October to take part in the Sardinia Supercar Tour, a rally that showcases high-end sports cars and supercars. It was said that the pair was driving their Lamborghini. According to accounts, a Ferrari that was in front of them attempted to pass a camper van, but they collided, resulting in a supercar pileup. The two occupants of the Ferrari perished, but Vikas and Gayatri were unharmed. After looking into the altercation, the Italian authorities discovered no misconduct on their part.
