In 2023, Shah Rukh Khan did, in fact, establish his dominance at the box office with just three films: Jawan, Dunki, and Pathaan. For the first time in history, the superstar achieved two all-time grosses in a single year. He is now unquestionably the king of Bollywood thanks to this. Not only has the superstar dominated the box office this year, but he has also created a phenomenon by drawing an astounding 8 crore viewers.
To date, Jawan has contributed 3.93 Cr., Pathaan 3.20 Cr., and Dunkiover 1 Cr., making him the first Hindi film actor to do so. With a spectacular 524 Cr. nett (Hindi) and 545 Cr. nett (all languages) in India to start the year, Pathaan achieved a remarkable 1055 Cr. worldwide, including a record-breaking 49.25 million USD overseas. As the highest-grossing Indian film overseas, Pathaan remains undisputed.
Shah Rukh Khan dominates the box office:
Jawan, on the other hand, became the highest-grossing Hindi film ever upon its release in June, grossing an incredible 643 Cr. net across all languages in India. 580 Cr. of this came from the Hindi film alone, setting yet another record. Then, in December, the superstar scored a hat trick with Dunki, which took in 410 Cr. globally in just 13 days. By the end of its run, the movie is expected to have taken in 460 Xe. or more.
The ensemble cast of Dunki includes Shah Rukh Khan, Boman Irani, Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal, Anil Grover, and Vikram Kochhar, all of whom play colourful characters. A presentation by Rajkumar Hirani Films, Red Chillies Entertainment, and JIO Studios, produced by Rajkumar Hirani and Gauri Khan Dunki, which was written by Abhijat Joshi, Rajkumar Hirani, and Kanika Dhillon, is currently available for viewing on theatres.
These stats only prove that 2023 was the year of the King Khan. Shah Rukh Khan managed to dominate the box office by delivering three of the mega hits. Fans are in absolute awe of the superstar. The audience cannot wait to find out what next the superstar has in store for them.
