England was crowned the World Champions in T20 Cricket on Sunday. They beat Pakistan in the finals of the 20-20 World Cup 2022 on Sunday to get the title. The Men in Green were restricted to a low score of just 137 runs in the first innings, thanks to great spells by Adil Rashid and Sam Curran. Ben Stokes then produced a brilliant half-century knock with the bat to take the team through with one over to spare. In the tournament, the Three Lions set many records. Here’s a look at some of them.
1. Sam Curran becoming the first Englishman to pick a five-for
Pacer Sam Curran became the first England bowler to take five wickets in a T20I. The feat was accomplished during the Three Lions’ 20-20 World Cup 2022 Super 12 opener against Mohammad Nabi’s Afghanistan at Perth Stadium.
BeforeĀ Curran, Adil Rashid had the best bowling figures by an Englishman in T20Is. In the previous 20-20 World Cup, the leggie had figures of 2.2-0-2-4 against the West Indies. England won by six wickets after bowling their opponents out for 55 in 14.2 overs.
