‘Thoda paisa gareebon ko bhi dedo’ – Fans react as sources reveal income tax paid by Indian Cricket Board during last financial year

In the fiscal year 2021–22, the Indian Cricket Board paid Rs 1,159 crore in income tax, a 37% increase over the prior year. Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary provided information about the income tax paid by the Indian Cricket Board and its earnings and expenses over the previous five years based on the returns submitted in a written response to a question in the Rajya Sabha.

The Indian Cricket Board contributed Rs 844.92 crore a value lower in income tax in the fiscal year 2020–21 than it did in the previous year when it paid Rs 882.29 crore. The board paid taxes totalling Rs 815.08 crore in FY2019, up from Rs 596.63 crore in FY 2017–18.

The Indian Cricket Board reported revenue of Rs 7,606 crore and expenditures of over Rs 3,064 crore for the fiscal year 2021–2022. Its revenue was Rs 4,735 crore while its expenses were Rs 3,080 crore in 2020–21.

The Indian Cricket Board is now busy getting ready for the One Day World Cup 2023. India will host the ODI World Cup, which will take place from October 5 through November 19, 2023. The ODI World Cup, which will take place in India, will feature an overall of 10 nations.

There will be World Cup games in 10 Indian cities. The World Cup schedule, which the apex cricket body has recently released, could be altered. England and New Zealand, who both won the 2019 World Cup, will play in the tournament’s opening game.

According to reports, the Indian Cricket Board has been asked by the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) to change the date of the 2023 World Cup encounter involving Pakistan and England.

The current match is slated to take place in Eden Gardens on November 12, which also happens to be Kali Puja Day, a Hindu festival. It constitutes one of the greatest holidays in the region of West Bengal, and numerous clubs host large crowds of people for their celebrations.
