The Indian Cricket Board last year in December decided to donate INR 2.25 crores of gym equipment to the Constitution Club of India (CCI), a club used by present and past parliamentarians as a ‘platform for interaction.’ Indian Cricket Board Secretary Jay Shah informed the members about CCI’s (Constitution Club of India)  request for funds.

Following the cost negotiations and availability talks, a final quotation of Rs 2.27 crores was given to BCCI. It was proposed that a one-time gift of Rs 2.25 crores be provided to CCI for the purchase of gym equipment. According to the minutes, the members took notice of this information and authorized the gift for gym equipment. The judgement was made public on the Indian Cricket Board website.

It is suggested that a lump sum of Rs 2.25 crores be donated to CCI directly towards the purchase of gym equipment: Indian Cricket Board

As per the minutes of an Apex Council meeting that took place on December 21, 2022, Item No 9 mentions: “Mr Jay Shah (BCCI secretary) apprised the members that the Constitution Club Of India (CCI) have requested for funds from the Indian Cricket Board for the procurement of gym equipment. Based on the negotiation on the cost and availability of the documents, a final quote was submitted to the Indian Cricket Board, which provided a final cost of Rs 2.27 crores. In this regard, it is suggested that a lump sum of Rs 2.25 crores be donated to CCI directly towards the purchase of gym equipment.”

A note on CCI’s website describes the club, located at the Vithal Bhai Patel House in Delhi, as “the Constitution Club of India was opened in February 1947 with the objectives & purposes of fostering social contacts and providing usual amenities of club life for the benefit of the members of the Indian Constituent Assembly. Whereas the Constitution Club of India has effectively emerged as an enviable forum providing a platform for interaction amongst the past & present members of Parliament.”

The Cricket Governing Body and the Indian Cricket Board have rescheduled some of the World Cup matches. India vs Pakistan match is notable among them which has been rescheduled to 14th October. The official rescheduled fixtures are yet to be published.
