Following their performance in the most recent three-match ODI series against the West Indies, star Indian batsmen Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill have quickly risen in the ODI batting rankings. With 126 runs across three innings with an average of 42, Gill emerged to be the second-highest run scorer of the series.

On the contrary, Kishan was awarded Player of the Series for being the highest run-scorer in the series, with a total of 184 runs across three innings and three half-centuries. Both batsmen have risen in the most recent edition of the latest ODI batting rankings as a result of their outstanding performances.

With 743 ratings, Gill has moved up two spots to take over the fifth spot and is now just behind Pakistani batters Imam-ul-Haq, who is in the fourth spot on 745 rating points as well as Fakhar Zaman, who stands at 755 rating points at the third spot. Kishan also received a rating that is a career-high after moving up nine spots to take up the 36th position. Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan, maintains the top spot despite receiving 886 ratings.

Shardul Thakur, along with Kuldeep Yadav, who finished with the highest and second-highest number of wickets in the ODI series, respectively, have also made tremendous progress. After taking seven wickets in three games, Kuldeep vaulted four spots and entered the top ten.

Tilak Varma making strides during his debut series

Tilak Varma, the young Mumbai Indians batsman, who just made his debut on the international stage during the current five-match T20I series, has also been recognised for a standout beginning to his career and has climbed to the 46th spot in the rankings of T20I batters.

The 20-year-old has so far scored the most runs in the T20I series, totalling 139 across three innings with an average of 69.50 and has one fifty. After scores of 39 and 51, Varma led India in scoring in the opening two games. In the third T20I, he also produced a superb innings of 49* (37) that helped India hunt down 160 against the West Indies.
