‘Part-time international cricketer ka return hai’ – Fans react to Trent Boult returning to New Zealand side ahead of ODI World Cup 2023

The addition of Trent Boult to the New Zealand side can make them one of the strong contenders for the ODI World Cup 2023.

After New Zealand named a potent lineup for the four-match series against England to be held from September 8 to 15, Trent Boult is set to participate in his first ODI in over a year. Boult was freed from the Black Caps’ central contract last year so he could play in T20 competitions all over the world. The Kiwis have revealed their T20I team, which is captained by Tim Southee, in addition to the 50-over format. After the T20I series gets over, Ish Sodhi, Mark Chapman, and James Neesham will be returning home due to family obligations.

In a statement from the New Zealand Cricket Board, “Mark Chapman and Jimmy Neesham will miss the series as they await the births of their first children, while Ish Sodhi is also returning home after the T20I series against England to spend time with his family ahead of a busy period of cricket.”

Michael Bracewell, an all-arounder, was also ineligible for selection because he has not yet fully recovered from the injury he suffered in June. Between August 30 and September 5, England, as well as New Zealand, will play two T20 Internationals. The team for New Zealand’s upcoming three-match T20I series versus the United Arab Emirates was also made official.

Trent Boult will likely be chosen for the ODI World Cup 2023 as assumed by the New Zealand selectors’ decision to include him in their squad ahead of their four ODIs against England as they prepare for the high-profile competition in October. Fast bowler Kyle Jamieson also made his ODI comeback after recovering from a back injury, which is good news for New Zealand’s World Cup preparations.

Boult as well as Jamieson last participated in ODIs in September 2022 and April 2022, respectively. Jamieson hasn’t played since February of this year. The T20Is versus UAE later this month will be his first game back.
