The 6ixty: Match 6, 7, 8 & 9- Match Report

The Semi-final of The 6ixty will begin from August 28th.

The 6ixty tournament is going at a pace akin to the games itself. In just four days, the unique event has reached the semi-final stage. August 27th saw three games in The 6ixty. Let’s look at the match report for all those matches.

Match 6: Jamaica Tallawahs vs Barbados Royals

In the sixth match of The 6ixty, the table toppers Barbados met with the Jamaica Tallawahs. Losing the toss and asked to bat first, the JAM team reached a massive total of 162/3. Amir Jangoo played a sensational knock of 68 off of 27 with four boundaries and six sixes. Raymon Reifer was even more impressive with his 57* off of just 19 balls. He stuck eight fours and three sixes in his incredible innings.

Coming onto chase the big target, the BR team got off to a poor start as they lost their opener, Justin Greaves, at just nine. Corbin Bosch (33) and Harry Tector (35) tried but could not get anywhere near the target. In the end, the Jamaica Tallawahs won by 41 runs.

Match 7: St Lucia Kings vs Jamaica Tallawahs

The seventh match was a slightly normal game as compared to the one before it. After losing the toss, the SLK team batted first but could only reach 109/5. Roshon Primus with 48 off of 25 and Johnson Charles with 32 off of 21 were the top performers for the team. Joshua James, with a bowling figure of 2-25-2, was instrumental to SLK’s low score.

The JAM team failed to achieve the target and lost the game by eight runs. Wicketkeeper batter Amir Jangoo was again the best performer with the bat as he hit 44 runs in 20 balls. Captain Rovman Powell (34) tried to play a helping hand but failed to take his team across the line.

Match 8: Guyana Amazon Warriors vs Barbados Royals

The penultimate match of the league stage saw GUY clash with BR in which the latter came on top. The BR team chased down the 108/6 run target set by GUY in just 8.2 overs. Captain Kyle Mayers led the team with his 30 off of 16 balls.

GUY captain Shimron Hetmyer, with 32 off of 18 balls, had earlier done the same for his team.

Match 9: Trinbago Knight Riders vs St Kitts And Nevis Patriots

The last match of the league stage brought TKR and SKN against each other for a place in the semifinal. TKR with a three-run win over the SKN jumped to third on the table and got into the semifinal.

TKR batter Andre Russell, with 72 runs off of 24 balls, put the TKR team in the driver’s seat as they reached an impressive 155/5. In reply, the SKN team came very close but couldn’t reach the target.

Sherfane Rutherford, with 50 off of 15 balls, and Dominic Drakes, with 33 off of 10 balls, gave an impressive performance but just fell short of the target by three runs. Both teams were able to qualify for the semi-final of The 6ixty.
