The Tamil Nadu Premier League 2022 points table is very closely stacked with four teams having four points each. The first and second team are way ahead of the other while the last two have fallen behind. Games are coming thick and fast with teams hoping to secure a place in the qualifiers.
13th July saw one such match which had very high stakes. Let’s look at the match report for it.
TNPL 2022 Match 18 Tiruppur Tamizhans vs Salem Spartans
Salem Spartans with zero points in their three games, had an opportunity for a first win against the Tiruppur Tamizhans in Match 18. After winning the toss they decided to bowl first and asked TT to bat. Captain Srikkanth Anirudha and the other opener S Aravind gave a good start to the TT, taking them to 57 before the first wicket fell.
Srikkanth with 32 off of 22 and Aravind with 25 off of 30 laid a strong foundation but the next batter Subramanian Anand (3) could not take the mantle forward. Maan Bafna (29*) and P Francis Rokins (17) made a good partnership as well after which Ravi Rajkumar (11) and M Mohammed (9) gave a decent end to their batting innings. In the end, TT managed to make 135/5 in 20 overs.
Daryl Ferrario came up with a bowling figure of 4-21-2 and was SS’s best bowler.
Coming on to chase the target, SS stumbled from the word get-go. Opener Hari Gopinath (5) went early on leaving his team in a difficult situation. R Kavin (14) and S Ganesh (19) tried to steady the innings, but they were no match for the TT bowlers. None of the other batters apart from Ravi Karthikeyan (36) could stop the fall of wickets and the team was eventually bowled out for a paltry 103/10.
S Mohan Prasath emerged as the best bowler from TT with a bowling figure of 4-11-3. S Aravind with 4-12-2 and M Mohammed with 4-31-2 also supported Mohan with two wickets each. With this win, TT move to fifth in the table while SS remain at the bottom.
