Cricket has been growing at an unprecedented pace over the last decade or so. With the advent of T20 cricket, more and more countries are coming under the umbrella of international cricket. The Governing body for international cricket, as well as the Indian cricket board, are encouraging other countries to hold more 20-20 tournaments in order to grow the sport.
The upcoming Singapore vs Malaysia T20I series is part of the very same approach to cricket’s growth. Starting on 28th June, Singapore and Malaysia will play three T20Is on the Indian Association Ground in Singapore.
The Singapore vs Malaysia T20I series will only be streamed on FanCode. This series is not going to be streamed on conventional TV in India as no other channel has been sold its broadcast rights. It is to be noted that this is a bilateral series, where Malaysia will be on a tour to Singapore for a three-match T20I series. The three matches are to be held on 28th, 29th and 30th June on the Indian Association Ground, Singapore. This ground has hosted five T20Is in total, of which the first batting team has won twice whereas the team batting second has won it thrice. The highest total at this ground is 181/9 by the Singapore team. The average score at the IAG is 158.
Led by the captain Amjad Mahboob, the Singapore team currently ranks 20th in the International T20I rankings. Malaysia on the other hand stays at 31st in the rankings with Ahmad Faiz as their captain. In their last match, the Singapore team defeated Hong Kong by 16 runs having made 168/5 in the first innings. Malaysia on the other hand were thumped by Nepal with an 85-run loss after getting out at just 138, chasing a target of 223 runs.
