Malaysia women sealed the three-match T20I series 2-0 after winning the second game by 75 runs on Saturday at Indian Association Ground in Singapore. Malaysia batted first in that encounter and managed to score a good-looking total of 145 runs in the first innings. The openers didn’t make a great start as the likes of Duraisingam (11) and Wan Julia (13) got out cheaply.
However, Mas Elysa and Elsa Hunter then steadied the ship and added 113 runs for the third wicket partnership. Mas Elysa got out after playing a sensational knock of 51 runs in 48 balls, including 3 fours. Elsa Hunter, however, remained unbeaten right till the end. She amassed 53 runs in 45 balls, a knock which was studded with 3 fours.
As for Singapore, Ada Bhasin returned with outstanding figures of 2 for 19 in 4 overs. GK Diviya was also handy in her four-over spell. However, all the other bowlers failed to hit the straps.
In pursuit of the score, Singapore were bundled out for just 70 runs on the board. The likes of Abeyratne and Mahesh got out without adding a single run to the total. Roshni Ramesh Seth managed to play 14 balls for her 12 runs before getting back to the hut. Once she got out, wickets fell in quick succession and, in the end, were bundled out for a paltry 70-run total.
Malaysia ensured they kept picking wickets at regular intervals. Nur Dania Syuhada starred with the ball, picking four for 14 in her four overs. Sasha Azmi also returned with outstanding figures of three for 10 in her four overs. Besides, the likes of Nur Arianna Natsya and Nik Nur Atiela picked one wicket each.
Malaysia women have already sealed the series and would look to win the next game as well to register a series whitewash. On the other hand, Singapore would look to play for their pride. The third T20I is slated to be played on Sunday (10th July) at the Indian Association Ground.
