Perth Scorchers beat Brisbane Heat to lift the title of Big Bash League 2023. The team led by Ashton turner has now successfully defended their crown and have lifted the Trophy for the 5th time in 12 editions. The match at Perth Stadium provided some excellent entertainment as it went down to the wire.

Brisbane Heat won the toss and decided to bat first. In the first innings, the team led by Jimmy Pierson managed to score 175 runs in their allotted 20 overs. The Brisbane team reached this total thanks to the efforts of Nathan McSweeney (41 runs in 37 balls) and cameos by Sam Heazlett (34 runs in 30 balls) and Max Bryant (31 runs in 14 balls). None of their batters was able to reach the landmark figure of 50 in the match.

Jason Behrendorff and Matthew Kelly each took two wickets for the Scorchers, while David Payne, Aaron Hardie, and Andrew Tye each took one. The majority of the bowlers gave up a lot of runs in the first innings, putting them in big trouble.

In the chase, the defending champions had a decent start as the openers Stephen Eskinazi (21 runs in 19 balls) and Cameron Bancroft (15 runs in 13 balls) put on a 32-run partnership. However, that did not last long as Eskinazi was involved in a bizarre run out in the fifth over of the inning.

Bancroft also followed him soon as he was dismissed by Matthew Kuhnemann in the 7th over. They lost another wicket quickly, but an 80-run partnership between Josh Inglis (26 runs in 22 balls) and captain Ashton Turner got them back into the game. Turner (53 runs in 32 balls) went on to score a brilliant half-century, including five boundaries and two sixes.

After their wickets, Nick Hobson (18 runs in 7 balls) and the 19-year-old Cooper Connolly (25 runs in 11 balls) held their nerves and played the perfect cameo to take their team over the line. In the end, Pert Schorcers beat Brisbane Heat by five wickets and three balls to spare in BBL 12 final.
