‘Le Dada to Kohli- Meri aankho me to dekh’ – Fans react as Delhi Capitals outmuscle Royal Challengers Bangalore by 7 wickets

In the 50th match of the Indian Premier League 2023, Delhi Capitals beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 7 wickets. Riding on a magnificent half-century from Phil Salt, DC registered its fourth victory in the last five games. However, Virat Kohli’s record-breaking innings went in vain as his team failed to bowl well on the batting paradise.

Earlier after winning the toss, RCB skipper Faf du Plessis opted to bat first. His decision went well with the team as opener Virat Kohli, along with him, added 82 runs for the first wicket. Faf scored 45 runs off 32 balls with the help of five boundaries and a six. DC scalped two wickets on consecutive balls as Glen Maxwell registered a golden duck. Both were dismissed by Mitchell Marsh.

After their dismissal, Kohli along with Mahipal Lomror added 55 runs for the third wicket. Kohli scored 55 runs off 46 balls with the help of five boundaries but his strike rate, once again, was under the scanner. He was dismissed by pacer Mukesh Kumar.

After his departure, Lomror hammered some magnificent shots to register his half-century. He scored unbeaten 54 runs off 29 balls with the help of six boundaries and three sixes. Apart from Marsh, Khaleel Ahmed and Mukesh clinched a wicket each.

Delhi Capitals comfortably chased 182 runs

Chasing 182, DC got an impressive start as opener Phil Salt along with skipper David Warner added 60 runs for the first wicket. Warner scored 22 runs off 14 balls with the help of three boundaries and a six. He was dismissed by pacer Josh Hazelwood. After that, Salt along with Mitchell Marsh added 59 runs for the second wicket.

Marsh scored 26 runs off 17 balls with the help of three boundaries and a six. He was dismissed by Harshal Patel, who came in as an impact player for the visitors. After his departure, Riley Russouw joined Salt in the run chase. They added 52 runs off the third wicket before Karan Sharma removed the latter. Salt played a match-winning knock of 87 runs off 45 balls with the help of eight boundaries and six maximums. DC’s victory has now certainly increased their chances of reaching the playoffs.
