IND vs NZ, 2nd ODI, 2023: 'Kya chal raha hai bhai NZ vale' - Fans stunned as New Zealand lose 5 wickets for 15 runs

India and New Zealand faced off against each other in the second ODI of the three-match contest on January 21, Saturday and it was the Indian team’s skipper Rohit Sharma who won the toss and elected to bowl first on the day. However, it turned out to be a nightmare toss defeat for the Black Caps as the Indian pacers rattled the top order in no time.

To add more, it was Mohammed Shami who opened the account with the ball in the very first over as he removed the opener Fin Allen for a duck on the fifth ball of the over. Much to the surprise of the Indian fans, Mohammed Siraj bagged his first in the 6th over of the innings as he removed Henry Nicholls sending him back to the dressing room.

However, things turned from bad to worse for the visitors as they lost their 3rd wicket in no time, in the 6th over from Shami, who in turn bagged his pair as he removed Daryl Mitchell, leaving the Black Caps batter clueless. With Hardik Pandya and Shardul Thakur removing Devon Conway and Tom Latham in the 10th and 11th over respectively, New Zealand lost half of their men after putting on just 15 runs on the board.

We would have bowled first as well: Tom Latham

After losing the toss and being forced to bat first, the skipper Latham said that they wanted to bat first as well, claiming that he was unsure of how the wicket would play on the day, given that Raipur is hosting its first-ever international game.

“We would have bowled first as well, 1st international game here, so not sure how this wicket will play. Great last game, executed well in the bat and hoping to do the same here,” Latham was quoted as saying at the toss after Rohit elected to bowl first.

“Looking to take back the experience, it’s important to win games, but the experience of playing in these conditions will be handy as well. Ish (Sodhi) hasn’t still pulled up well, so we’re playing the same team,” said the Kiwi captain further.
