On October 1, 2007, John Cena tore his right pectoral muscle completely during a match against Mr. Kennedy. The culprit was an awkward hip toss. It happened early in the match, and Cena fought through the rest of it.

He could be seen clutching his arm to his side like a broken wing, trying to shake off the pain. Later, Randy Orton stepped in and delivered an RKO. WWE stripped Cena of his championship, and he took time off to recover before making a surprise appearance at the 2008 Royal Rumble.
