Aryna Sabalenka managed to defend her title in the Australian Open 2024. The Belarusian defeated Zheng Qinwen in the final by 6-3, 6-2 to become the champion in the women’s singles event for the 2nd time in a row. In the process, Aryna became the first player in more than a decade to defend the title in women’s singles at the Australian Open.
Aryna did not break her sweat en route to the championship win at the Australian Open 2024. The Chinese played well till the final but could not match the intensity of the Belarusian athletes. Aryna won the match in straight sets and ended the match in just over an hour. The stamina of Aryna in the final was on full display as she covered the court very well.
Sabalenka was strong on serve and hit many aces. Before Zheng could realize what struck her, the match was done and dusted. It is the third Grand Slam title win for Sabalenka in the last five events. The form of Sabalenka has been amazing and she is leaving no stone unturned to make the most out of her peak. Qinwen was no match for the Belarusian in the final.

Sabalenka spoke about the Chinese after winning the final. The 2nd seeded player felt sad for Qinwen and claimed to know what the Chinese would be going through after losing the final. It is evident how Sabalenka lost the final in the French Open final in 2023. She added that Qinwen is an incredible player and so young as of now.
Sabalenka concluded by saying that Zheng would win a lot of finals in the upcoming days and wished her luck for the future. “I know this feeling, it’s really tough to lose in the finals. But you’re such an incredible player, such a young girl, and you’re going to be in many more finals. You’re going to get it,” said Aryna after winning the final. Zheng had a good chance to win the final but ended up losing it.
