Jannik Sinner downs Novak Djokovic to reach Australian Open finals.

Italian ace Jannik Sinner on Friday caused the biggest shock of the Australian Open 2024. The 22-year-old coasted to an easy win to play his first-ever Australian Open finals. The first set saw Sinner win with ease as he outclassed Djokovic with a 6-1 margin.

If one thought that the Croatian would make a comeback the fans were sadly mistaken. More dominance was in store as Jannik Sinner won the second set with the score reading 6-2. Time was running out as Djokovic looked short of ideas and was soon starting to feel tired.

Novak Djokovic finally showed why he counted as a modern-day great by winning the 3rd set. The 36-year-old took the third set after winning the tie-break by 8 points to six. The fightback though was short-lived as Jannik Sinner found a 4th gear in his game.

The Italian made sure to capitalize on the errors made by Djokovic and took the final set 6-3. Once the final point was nailed there was happiness in the Italian’s camp on reaching the finals.

At the end of the game, Jannik Sinner said “It was a very tough match. I started off really well. He missed in the first two sets. I felt like he wasn’t feeling great on the court so I just tried to keep pushing”

The final now will be played this weekend with Jannik Sinner taking on Medvedev or Zverev. Meanwhile, Novak Djokovic fans can hold their heads high after the tremendous spirit shown by the veteran.
