‘Alag nasib leke aaya hai Warner bhai’ – Star Australia batter David Warner likely to lead Delhi in Indian T20 League 2023

David Warner

Star Australian batter David Warner is set to lead the Delhi franchise in the upcoming edition of the Indian T20 League. According to some reports, a close associate of the franchise revealed that Warner will lead Delhi in absence of wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant, while allrounder Axar Patel will be his deputy. Notably, Delhi skipper Rishabh Pant suffered a serious injury due to a car crash last December.

Warner has an extensive experience as a captain in the league as he has led the Hyderabad franchise for around five seasons. He was sacked as captain by the franchise after a poor performance in 2021 and was replaced by Kiwi captain Kane Williamson. “David will be our captain and Axar Patel will be his deputy,” Cricbuzz quoted a source.

Notably, David Warner is currently suffering from an elbow injury and has been released from Australia’s Test squad. Although he has not been in great form for the last few months, it will be interesting to see his performance in the upcoming season. He will make his comeback during the three-match ODI series against Australia as he has been named in the squad.

Hyderabad names Aiden Markram as the new captain

Meanwhile, Hyderabad named star South Africa allrounder Aiden Markram as their new captain ahead of the upcoming Indian T20 League. Markram, who led Sunrisers Eastern Cape to a memorable title win in the recently concluded SA20, has been awarded by the franchise. He will be replacing Kane Williamson, who was released by the franchise before the last mini-auction.

According to head coach Brian Lara, in light of Markram’s outstanding performance in the most recent SA20, in which the South African captained the Sunrisers Eastern Cape team to victory, the franchise management chose to make Markram the skipper.

However, fans react as reports suggest that warner will lead the Delhi franchise. a Twitter user wrote, “Alag nasib leke aaya hai Warner bhai.”
