India captain Rohit Sharma is one of the greatest batters in modern cricket. He has been phenomenal throughout his career and has been India’s best opener in the last decade. However, his fitness and body weight has always attracted critics, who have slammed the batter for not working on it. Now, former India Captain Kapil Dev also made stern remarks against the India skipper and said that he needs to work on his weight.

In a discussion with ABP news, World Cup winning India Captain Kapil Dev was asked about the buzz around Rohit’s fitness. He made a furious comment over it and also namedropped ex-India captain Virat Kohli. Kapil said, “It is very important (to be fit). More so for a captain. It’s a shame if you are not fit. Rohit needs to put some hard work into it.”

Comparing Rohit’s fitness with star India batter Virat Kohli, Kapil further said, “He is a great batter but when you talk about his fitness, he looks a bit overweight, at least on TV. Yes, it’s different when you look at someone on TV and then in real life. But from whatever I see, Rohit is a great player and a great captain, but he needs to get fit. Look at Virat, whenever you see him, you say, ‘that’s some fitness.'”

Rohit Sharma made an amazing comeback against Australia

India captain Rohit Sharma made a great comeback against Australia in the longest format of the game. Playing after almost 11 months in the Tests, Rohit scored a magnificent century against Australia in Nagpur and led the team to one of the biggest victories.

Team India is currently facing Australia in a four-match Test series, the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, and leading it by 2-0. The team has won both games handily thus far, defeating Australia in Delhi by six wickets after winning the opener game by innings in Nagpur.
