The Test match between Pakistan and New Zealand has seen plenty of runs scored in four days in the first innings. Over 1000 runs have been scored in the contest so far, out of which a majority have come off the bat of New Zealand Cricketer Kane Williamson.

The former Test captain has shown great patience in dealing with the flat wicket at Karachi’s National Stadium. Williamson completed his double century near the end of the innings, with only one wicket remaining. It took him 393 deliveries to get to the milestone. This is his 5th double hundred in Test cricket, the most by any Kiwi batter.

Immediately after he completed his milestone, captain Tim Southee called the players back and declared the innings. They managed to score 612/9 in their first innings. Williamson was given support from a lot of his teammates in the match. Earlier, Tom Latham and Devon Conway put on an excellent partnership of 183 runs for the first wicket that set the tone for the innings.

While Latham (113) completed his century, Conway (92) missed out on a ton by just eight runs. In addition, tailender Ish Sodhi (65) also completed his half-century in the match. Thanks to all their efforts, New Zealand managed a 174-run lead in the first innings.

Earlier in the game, the hosts managed to score 438 runs in their first innings thanks to centuries from Babar Azam and Agha Salman. The team skipper scored 161 runs in 280 balls, while Agha Salman scored 103 runs in 155 balls. In addition, Sarfaraz Ahmed, making his Test comeback, scored 86 runs in 153 balls.

In the meantime, the match is likely to end in a draw as the pitch at the National Stadium has not a lot on offer for the bowlers. However, the team led by Tim Southee will look to restrict the Pakistani side under their lead to win the match.
