‘You are no longer president…’ – Sunil Gavaskar makes an interesting remark on Sourav Ganguly

‘Even Arsene Wenger is an uncanny lookalike of my hero ML Jaisimha, so that’s an additional factor,’ Gavaskar added.

Sunil Gavaskar makes an interesting remark on Sourav Ganguly

Sunil Gavaskar and Sourav Ganguly are two great friends, although one has to agree that they belong to two different eras. While Gavaskar set the tone for the Indian team’s future, it was the southpaw who revamped the Indian team completely and brought in the likes of Yuvraj Singh, Zaheer Khan and MS Dhoni.

As things stand, during a live show ahead of the second Test between India and Bangladesh that kicked off on December 22, Friday, Gavaskar came up with a stern question to Ganguly. Saying that the southpaw is yet to return the shirt signed by former Arsenal captain, Gavaskar claimed that Ganguly was no more the President of the Indian Cricket Board and requested him to search for the shirt.

“I’ve been an Arsenal follower – I won’t say a fan so much – been a follower for a long time. I used to tease my son who is a Manchester United fan that I am an Arsenal fan and he would ask ‘Tell me 4 names from the Arsenal team’. I would say Thierry Henry and Dennis Bergkamp,” Gavaskar was quoted as saying to Sony Sports Network.

You have a little more time on your hands: Sunil Gavaskar

“Even Arsene Wenger is an uncanny lookalike of my hero ML Jaisimha, so that’s an additional factor. Henry was someone who I really admired watching and he also has signed a shirt for me,” said the former Indian cricketer further.

“Sourav Ganguly… hello? Where is that shirt? I am coming to Kolkata for the game on the 12th and Sourav, you better this time – I don’t want any excuses. You are no longer the Indian Cricket Board president. You have a little more time on your hands. Find that shirt which Henry had signed for me and please give it to me when I come there on the 12th,” he added.

India and Bangladesh would look to give a tough fight in the second Test and make it a highly competitive match. The Indian camp led by KL Rahul on the other hand would look to clinch the series against the Bangla Tigers and take home the series win.
