India and Bangladesh are facing off in the second Test that kicked off on December 22, Thursday and the KL Rahul-led team are giving it their all to clinch the series win, given that the Indian team already won the first Test by 188 runs. On Day 1, it was all about Jaydev Unadkat, Umesh Yadav and Ravichandran Ashwin as they ensured that the Bangla Tigers were restricted to 227.
While Unadkat managed to bag a two-for to his name on his comeback match, the likes of Ashwin and Yadav managed to pick four-fors to their name and helped India keep the upper hand in the match. On Day 2, Friday, it was all about Rishabh Pant as the likes of Shubman Gill, Rahul and Virat Kohli perished in quick succession.
To add more, while Gill, Rahul and Kohli made their way back to the dressing room for 20, 10 and 24, Pant, on the other hand, managed to reach the 50-run landmark and eventually lifted the team from the labyrinth. At session 2 post lunch, India were reeling at 168/4 with Pant unbeaten at 58 and Shreyas Iyer at the other end at 29, trailing by 59 runs.
India inch closer to taking lead on Day 2 post lunch
The Indian team inched closer to taking the much-needed lead after facing a tough first session on Day 2 and the fans left no stone unturned to laud the southpaw for standing up for the team when they were in need of it, the most. Notably, Pant has been doing exceptionally well in the longest format of the game, unlike the white-ball formats.
It remained to be seen if the Indian wicketkeeper would reach the three-figure landmark and make a statement in Tests. Iyer, on the other hand, would be hoping to carry on with the innings and make valuable contributions at the other end as well.
