Star India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has started his rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. The 25-year-old batter suffered multiple injuries in a life-threatening car accident in the early hours of 30 December 2022. Since then the left-hand wicketkeeper-batter has been running out of the game and following different processes to recover soon.
Earlier, this month Pant made his first public appearance when he attended the Indian Premier League match between Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Titans at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. Meanwhile, The 25-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman, who last played for India in a two-match Test series against Bangladesh in December last year, took to Instagram Stories to offer an update on his recovery regimen and posted a picture from NCA with a fitness trainer.
Pant can be seen wearing protective gear near his knee in a photo he tweeted on Tuesday evening. He captioned the photo, “Top man #nca.” Notably, Pant struck his car in a divider when driving to his native house in Roorkee. He suffered severe injuries and has been ruled out of the game for almost seven-eight months.
Who will replace Rishabh Pant in India’s World Cup squad?
India’s chances will suffer significantly concerning Pant’s absence because he is one of the best wicketkeeper-batsmen of the modern era and can win games on his own. After stepping into the team to fill in for the injured Shikhar Dhawan, Pant also played in the 2019 50-over World Cup. In the situation that Pant is unable to represent India at the ODI World Cup, KL Rahul would likely fill in as the wicketkeeper-batsman.
Rahul was given the preference to keep the wickets in the three-match home series against Australia last month even though Ishan Kishan is a member of the team, and he performed admirably as well. Apart from Rahul, team India can look up to Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson. But these guys have to produce some extraordinary performances in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2023 to make it into the squad.
Here is how fans react to Rishabh Pant’s rehabilitation news:
Hope we can see him in action by December at least. We need someone like him in SA tour.

Just learnt England is visiting India for an entire 5-test series next year. Wow, that would be one mouthwatering series with the new aggressive England team under Ben Stokes & Brendon McCullum

Can some one please strictly over look what NCA does with Pant and take care so that NCA don't end up risking more from the injury, sorry just don't have any confidence in NCA after how the injury of players like Bumrah, Iyer was handled

Now he's done. No way he will play WC23 being at NCA.
