Sri Lanka decided to bat first after winning the toss but it might have been the only thing that went right with them. Mohammad Siraj’s outstanding bowling performance against India totally stunned Sri Lanka, who were knocked out for its lowest ODI score.
Earlier in the innings, Bumrah started the proceedings by dismissing Kusal Perera, but Siraj was just terrific after that. He had fantastic off-the-deck movement and was unplayable with the new ball. The Sri Lankan team was unable to react to the ball’s swing and seam because of him.
Throughout their innings, several records were broken, and Siraj concluded his spell of seven consecutive overs with 6 wickets. He ended the game by taking 4 of these wickets in the space of one over.
When Hardik Pandya joined the attack, he did not fall short either as he ended with three wickets to his name. The fast bowlers took all the ten wickets as India folded Sri Lanka for a mere 50 runs on the scoreboard.
Indian batters Shubman Gill as well as Ishan Kishan completed the match in just 6.1 overs, easily defeating the meagre goal. They continued to stay flawlessly on 27 as well as 23, respectively, to help the “Men in Blue” pull off an incredible victory.
