The ongoing Indian T20 League 2022 has seen a lot of action-packed moments. A few of them being Rahul Tewatia hitting two back-to-back sixes against Punjab, David Miller’s special knock against Chennai and Yuzvedra Chahal taking a hat-trick against Kolkata. In the ongoing game between Punjab and Gujarat, the fans saw another exciting moment.

Gujarat’s opening batter, Shubman Gill, got run out in the third over of the first innings. It is to be noted this wasn’t a normal dismissal as a gem of a throw ensured that the opener had to prematurely return to the pavilion. Moments before the dismissal, Gill took off for a quick single. Rishi Dhawan, then picked the ball cleanly as it came towards him. However, Dhawan had only one stump to aim as he was standing at the extra cover.

Little did Gill know that the all-rounder will hit the stumps. However, after the dismissal, the opening batter was unhappy with the same. The reason for that being Sandeep Sharma standing in the line where the right-hander was running. Looking at the replays, the 22-year-old was looking to run straight towards the non-striking end but couldn’t as Sharma was standing in front of him.

This is why the 2018 U19-World Cup winner had run around the bowler which meant that he fell short of the crease by a frame. However, looking at the replay, the bowler didn’t do it intentionally. With this, the Fazilka-born player was gone for nine runs and thus, his poor form with the bat continues. Since hitting two back-to-back fifties in the initial few games, his form has nosedived.

For the unversed, he hit 96 runs against the same opposition when they met on April 8 this year. Coming back to the return fixture, his opening partner, Wriddhiman Saha (21), was caught by skipper Mayank Agarwal off Kagiso Rabada in the next over. Currently, the Hardik Pandya-led side have amassed 112 runs for the loss of six wickets, with Rashid Khan being the last batter to be dismissed at the time of writing.
