Former India skipper Virat Kohli is known for his winning-at-any-cost attitude. However, off the field, he is the complete opposite. Kohli is known for his mannerism and kind gesture. This is the reason why the 33-year-old has been regarded as one of the biggest ambassadors of the modern-day game.
Recently, former India cricketer Vivek Razdan spoke about an incident where Virat Kohli won Sir Vivian Richards’ heart with a kind gesture. Razdan was part of the commentary panel for the India tour of the West Indies in 2019. At that time, the Men In Blue were due to play an all-format series. Both teams played a three-match T20I series, followed by as many ODIs and two Tests.
The former cricketer remembered an incident where Viv Richards couldn’t find a place to keep his bag on the plane. However, Kohli, after seeing this, removed his bag and kept it under his seat. The former West Indies skipper was pretty impressed by Kohli’s kind gesture and patted Kohli’s shoulder and thanked the latter.
“In 2019, Sir Viv Richards was worried because he could not find a space in overhead locker for his luggage. No one got up, I saw Virat Kohli moved his own luggage, kept it below the seat & made room for Viv’s luggage, Sir Viv patted his shoulder & said Thank You.” – Vivek Razdan said on Sportskeeda.
Razdan explained that other players were occupied with their luggage but Richards couldn’t find a locker. Razdan stated that Kohli rearranged all the players’ luggage and found a way to accommodate Richards’ bag.
“But, all of them were occupied with players’ luggage as they entered first, so Viv looked at a couple of lockers but didn’t find any. Kohli noticed that, and he immediately walked up from his seat and rearranged the luggage of the other players. Eventually, he removed his bag, kept it below the seat ahead of him, and put Vivian Richards’ bag in that space,†Razdan revealed.
