Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar was one of the few former players to identify Prabhsimran Singh’s talent a few years back. The latter made his IPL debut for the Punjab Kings (then Kings XI Punjab) in 2019. Singh played only one game, followed by two games each in the 2020 and 2021 seasons. Meanwhile, ahead of the 2020 season, Tendulkar identified Singh’s talent in a video that is going viral.
“Prabhsimran is one to watch out for. His backlift and bat swing is free flowing. When the ball hits his bat, and the sound it creates is quite amazing,” Tendulkar lauded the PBKS in a video shared on Twitter.

I really liked what I saw of @prabhsimran01 in @lionsdenkxip’s previous game.
Here are my observations about him from that game.#KXIPvKKR #IPL2020 pic.twitter.com/7elqOWXjWz

Prabhsimran Singh has played every game for Punjab Kings this year
Meanwhile, talking about the wicketkeeper batter only played one game last year. As discussed above, the Punjab player didn’t get many opportunities in the 2019, 2020, and 2021 seasons either. However, with Jonny Bairstow being ruled out, Singh has played every game for the Red Army (they have played 12 matches so far).
In the tournament, he has hit fifty and a hundred and plays at a strike rate of above 160. In the game against Delhi Capitals, Singh scored his maiden IPL hundred. His inning helped the team reach 167/7 and win the game by 136/8 with the Kings’ spinner coming to the party.
“I was not thinking a lot. Just when the wickets fell early, I wanted to bat deeper. (Confidence of domestic form) I have been with the team for a long time and I have learnt a lot from my seniors. I was just trying to grab my opportunity. The wicket was a little difficult because it was turning. I was thinking to build a partnership with Sam and then wanted to target the bowlers. Very important knock for me, I was waiting for this for a long time. Whenever I talk to the seniors, they tell me to make it big,” Player of the match, Prabhsimran said in the mid-game show.
