Watch: Mitchell Johnson and Yusuf Pathan get involved in physical altercation during Qualifier match in Legends League Cricket

Things got heated as Johnson went on to push Yusuf and shouted ‘f**k off’.

Legends League Cricket.

The riveting action continued in the second season of the Legends League Cricket as Bhilwara Kings and India Capitals locked horns in the first Qualifier. Bhilwara Kings captain Irfan Pathan won the toss and elected to bat first. The decision to bat first was vindicated by the batting lineup who put up a massive score of 226 runs on the board after 20 overs.

Apart from the scintillating strokeplay in the first innings, a physical altercation between Yusuf Pathan and Mitchell Johnson took centre stage. During the 19th over of the innings, Johnson, who was bowling his final over, engaged in a verbal spat with Yusuf.

Johnson’s words riled up Yusuf who walked straight to the seamer to confront him. Things got heated up as the Aussie pacer went on to push Yusuf and shouted ‘f**k off’, which further added fuel to the raging fire.

The duo’s face-off was intervened by the umpires immediately. Notably, the Kings initiated a complaint to the umpire over Johnson’s behaviour. Following the altercation, Yusuf smacked the pacer for 6, 4, and 6 in the next three deliveries before getting out in the same over. Yusuf finished his innings with 48 off 24 balls while Johnson gave away 52 runs in four overs picking up two wickets.

Yusuf’s brother Irfan clobbered some boundaries in the next over as the Bhilwara Kings finished with the tournament’s highest score of 226 runs in their 20 overs. However, India Capitals made a mockery of the massive total as they went on to chase the target in 19.3 overs. Ross Taylor played a magnificent knock of 84 off 39 balls smashing nine fours and five sixes. Taylor got great support from Ashley Nurse who scored an unbeaten 60 off 28 balls smashing five fours and four sixes.

According to article 2.12 in Apex Cricket Body’s Code Of Conduct for players, “inappropriate physical contact with a Player, Player Support Personnel, Umpire, Match Referee or any other person” could result in umpires and match referee reprimanding and fining the involved player. It remains to be seen what the judgement could be on the Aussie pacer.
