The second edition of the Road Safety World Series is all set to begin from 10th September. The Indian Legends will take on the South Africa Legends in the opening match of the league at Kanpur. The first season of the tournament was highly successful as the crowd got to see their favourite retired cricketers back in action. The second season also promises to be an enthralling affair for the fans with the addition of one more team, New Zealand Legends.
The league will feature many big names of cricket who won several matches for their teams in their illustrious career. Among those many stars, few will grab the most limelight and become contenders for the player of the tournament award. Let’s take a look at three players in the league, who will be top contenders to win the Player of the Series award.
Tillakaratne Dilshan
Dilshan is one of the greatest players ever to play for Sri Lanka. Despite retiring from international cricket in 2016, the hunger to perform hasn’t left the star player. In the inaugural edition of the Road Safety World Series, Dilshan wasn’t happy just being on the top of the list of highest run scorers so he topped the list of highest wicket-takers as well.
He scored 271 runs in eight innings at an average of 45 and a strike rate of 136. He also picked up 12 wickets at an average of 13 and an economy rate of 6.39. The 45-year-old will be raring to go in the second edition as well and will surely do everything to have his hands on the ‘player of the tournament’ award.
