The India vs West Indies second T20I was all set to begin on Monday, 8:00 pm IST but a strange reason has forced the start of the game to be delayed by two hours. The match is now scheduled to begin at 10:00 pm (IST) as confirmed by Cricket West Indies.
“Cricket West Indies (CWI) confirmed there will be a delay in the start of the second match between West Indies and India to be played at Warner Park in St Kitts today, August 1st,” CWI stated in a statement.
CWI apologized to the broadcasters, sponsors and stated that the delay was due to the late arrival of ‘crucial team luggage’ from Trinidad to Saint Kitts.
“Due to circumstances beyond CWI’s control, there have been significant delays in crucial team luggage arriving into St Kitts from Trinidad. As a result, today’s match is due to start at 12:30 pm (11:30am Jamaica/10pm India). CWI regrets any inconvenience caused to our valued fans, sponsors, broadcast partners and all other stakeholders,” the statement further.
India are leading the five-match T20I series 1-0 after their comprehensive victory by 68 runs in the first match on Friday. The men in blue are unbeaten in all their matches so far on the tour. They whitewashed the West Indies in the three-match ODI series earlier. The visitors will look to continue their dominance in the ongoing tour with another victory in today’s game.
The West Indies team, on the other hand, will be looking to bounce back from their consecutive losses. The Caribbean team has now lost seven consecutive matches at home as they were whitewashed 3-0 in the three-match ODI series against Bangladesh prior to the India series.
The delay in the match didn’t go down well with the fans as they couldn’t wait for long to see their favourite stars in action. Indian team will be raring to go and replicate their clinical performance in the first match to take a 2-0 lead in the series.
