Having defeated West Indies by a massive 68 runs in the first T20I, India would be looking to come up with a similar performance in the second match. Rohit Sharma has shown great captaincy skills and the T20I series would be a great opportunity to sharpen his skills even more.
In the first match, India produced 190 runs in the first innings on the back of a Rohit Sharma 64. The Indian middle order failed to impress with their batting, but it was the in-form batter Dinesh Karthik again who took charge of the finishing. In just 19 balls the wicketkeeper batter made an impressive 41 runs to take the Indian score to a massive 190 runs.
In reply, West Indies never got going with the team losing wickets every few overs. Indian bowlers ran circles around the West Indies batting lineup. The left-arm pacer, Arshdeep Singh continues to impress with his bowling. He took two wickets, same as Ravi Bishnoi and the returnee Ravi Ashwin, to halt the home team at 122/8.
The India vs West Indies Second T20I will be played at Warner Park. The pitch is bowling friendly but a big boundary line means more runs to technically sound players. Spinners are expected to get more wickets as they would be able to get batters caught on the boundary.
The weather report suggests broken clouds with an average temperature of 26.42-degree Celsius.
India vs West Indies Probable Playing XI
India: India would like to go with the same playing XI as none of the players sustained any injury in the last match. Middle-order batters would be looking to perform better than in the last game.
Predicted Probable Playing XI: Rohit Sharma (c), Rishabh Pant (wk), Shreyas Iyer/Deepak Hooda, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Dinesh Karthik, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravi Bishnoi, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ravichandran Ashwin, Arshdeep Singh.
West Indies: West Indies were expected to do well in the T20I series as they did exceptionally well in the ODI series. Although they lost the series, they came very close to winning all but the last game.
West Indies are a historically good T20I side, so their poor showing raised some questions in the first match. The home side however would be looking to bounce back from their disastrous performance.
West Indies Probable XI: Shamarh Brooks, Kyle Mayers, Nicholas Pooran (c & wk), Rovman Powell, Shimron Hetmyer, Jason Holder, Akeal Hosein, Odean Smith, Keemo Paul, Alzarri Joseph, Obed McCoy.
