It’s extremely difficult to keep Virat Kohli quiet on the field, and a similar incident occurred on Day 2 of India’s second Test against Bangladesh at Mirpur. Kohli was provoked after Bangladesh batters began wasting time as the lights dimmed.
Frustrated by Bangladesh batters’ antics, Kohli angrily gestured to remove his jersey as Najmul Hossain Shanto began tying his shoelaces after the fifth ball of the sixth over, prompting the umpires to call for stumps.
Shanto went down to tie his shoelaces at the non-striker’s end which irritated the former India captain. Mocking Shanto for wasting time, Kohli began tugging on his jersey and fired at the batter. He supposedly said, “Shirt bhi khol le apna“ (Open your shirt as well).

This was not the only time Shanto caused a delay in the proceedings. Earlier, after Bangladesh walked out to bat in the second innings, Shanto requested a change of bat and checked all of the bats the 12th man brought but continued to play with the one he was using.
India began Day 2 with a score of 19/0 and went on to pile 314/10 on the board, giving them an 87-run lead. India lost both openers early in the game and was reduced to 94/4 at one point. Shreyas Iyer, who had a good first Test performance, maintained a similar tempo and, along with Rishabh Pant, saved India from a difficult situation. Both batters fell short of their centuries, with Iyer scoring 87 and Pant contributing 93.
Bangladesh batsmen started day three with a score of 7/0, but things quickly changed for them. They lost wickets quickly in the first session of the day, and the Indian bowlers came out on top. Ravichandran Ashwin got the first blood, while Jaydev Unadkat, Umesh Yadav and Axar Patel also took a wicket each. The home team had a score of 71/4 in 33 overs at lunch. India will now try to take more wickets and keep Bangladesh to a low total.
