India wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant is now reported to be getting back to cricket well before expected. Apparently, after his accident on December 30 last year. After it was revealed that he had sustained multiple injuries, the experts came to the conclusion that Pant is ruled for a year. Meanwhile, recently, the left-hander was under observation about whether he needed another surgery.
As it has turned out, there is no need. This is why the former India U19 player will return to the National Cricket Academy for further rehabilitation. An Indian Cricket Board official has said that there is a high chance that the Uttarakhand-born player might make a comeback earlier than expected. This year, India will play the ODI World Cup at home.
“Let’s make it clear that Pant never had multiple surgeries as was speculated. There was much anxiety over another surgery. He was monitored every fortnight. Fortunately, his progress has been better than expected. This is a big boost for him. It could mean his comeback can happen a lot earlier than what was first expected,” a BCCI source told TOI.
Rishabh Pant missed the IPL 2023 and will miss Test Championship
Meanwhile, the Delhi Capitals skipper missed the recently concluded 16th season. He was replaced by Abhishek Porel as a player who could keep wickets. On the other hand, David Warner took charge of the team. However, the Aussie couldn’t help the team reach the playoffs. In fact, they were the first team to be eliminated from the race. For the second consecutive time, the Capitals failed to reach the playoffs.
On the other hand, Pant will also miss the upcoming Test Championship final against Australia starting on June 7. His international game was the second Test against Bangladesh last December. It will be interesting to see when he makes a comeback. Meanwhile, some fans want him to make a comeback for the Test Championship final in 2023.
