Gujarat Titans batter Sai Sudarshan had a good enough season in the IPL 2023 to come into the limelight. He was one of the first impact players in the opening game of the tournament against Chennai Super Kings. In eight games played by Sudarshan, he amassed 362 at an average of 51.71 and a strike rate of 141.41 including three fifties.
The Tamil Nadu player’s standout performance was his 96 against the same side in the final. His innings helped the team reach 214/4. Even though the team lost the game in the end due to Duckworth Lewis, skipper Hardik Pandya praised the left-hander at the post-match presentation. “Special mention to Sai as well. CSK played better cricket. Sai is going to do wonders in his life.”

Meanwhile, two days after the final, Sai had a conversation with ESPNcricinfo. During this, he revealed his chat with Kane Williamson over the phone a few weeks back. The uncapped Indian player added that after the final, the New Zealand white-ball skipper praised his game
“Kane Williamson is sweet, I was having a conversation with him over the phone a few weeks back, he himself messaged me saying I could call him anytime & have a conversation over cricket, he texted after finals saying “You did a great job”, I feel so happy”.
Notably, the Kiwi was ruled out of the tournament after the opening game. He injured his knee after trying to save a six. After this, he is yet to make his return and might be ruled out of the ODI World Cup later this year
