Australia has just won the three-match match test series against Pakistan. Australia secured a victory in the third Test of the series to win the series 1-0. Notably, Australia is touring Pakistan after 24 years.
Amidst the historical series victory, the Aussie camp will be disappointed with the latest development on their star player Steve Smith. The star Australian batter is going to miss the ODI and T20 series against Pakistan. The news was revealed by Cricket Australia on Friday. They revealed it through a statement that read – “Smith experienced some discomfort during the three-match Test series and, with a full schedule of international cricket over the coming 18 months, it was felt prudent to prioritize recovery and treatment at this time.â€
Australia will be missing a few of its key players in its upcoming white-ball endeavor. Players like Pat Cummins, David Warner, Glenn Maxwell, Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc have been rested for the series. While pacer Kane Richardson is ruled out with an injury.
On his missing the Pakistan limited-overs series Smith said – “It’s disappointing to miss these matches against Pakistan but after chatting with the medical staff, I can see the need to take a break at this time.â€
Smith’s Replacement
Mitchell Swepson will be staying behind in Pakistan as Steve Smith’s replacement. According to the chief selector of Australia George Bailey, Australia’s white-ball squad has enough batting options and Swepson was included as the pitches will suit spinners in Lahore.
