India have made a roaring start in the ongoing Asia Cup 2022. Two wins in the first two matches have helped them reach the Super Four stage. The Men in Blue began their campaign in a high-voltage clash against Pakistan. Riding on a four-wicket haul from Bhuvneshwar Kumar, India restricted Pakistan to just 147 runs in the first innings.

A special knock from Hardik Pandya, later, helped the team chase down the score in 19.5 overs. Virat Kohli returned to form with a half-century in the next match against Hong Kong. However, the one who stole the show was Suryakumar Yadav, who wreaked havoc with the ball.

He played a sensational knock of 68 runs in just 26 balls, including 6 fours and as many sixes. The Indian batter propelled the total to 192 runs at the end of the first innings. Later, Rohit Sharma’s men restricted Hong Kong to 152, thereby winning the match by 40 runs.

India took a lot of positives from the two games. However, they have some issues to sort as well. Spin all-rounder, Ravindra Jadeja has been ruled out of the tournament due to a knee injury and Axar Patel has been roped in as his replacement. Besides, young fast bowlers, such as Avesh Khan and Arshdeep Singh had forgettable outings with the ball against Hong Kong. The former, in fact, proved expensive in both the matches played so far in the tournament.

Avesh Khan conceded 19 runs in 2 overs against Pakistan. In the next game against Hong Kong, he returned with figures of 1 for 53 in 4 overs. Over the last couple of days, there have been speculations over his place in the playing XI for the next game on Sunday. Amidst that, head coach, Rahul Dravid has revealed that Avesh Khan is unwell and might not play the next game against Pakistan on Sunday.

“Avesh Khan is little unwell, hoping he recovers in the later matches of the tournament”, said Rahul Dravid.

The fans, on Twitter, however, termed it as an excuse for removing him for playing XI. After learning listening Rahul Dravid’s update, the netizens are convinced that he won’t be playing on Sunday.
