‘Kya chal raha hain’- Fans react as Manoj Tiwary set to reverse his retirement decision for sake of Bengal cricket

Indian batter Manoj Tiwary has decided to reverse his decision of retire, just after five days of announcing it. As he wants to play for the sake of Bengal cricket. Manoj changed his mind after speaking with the President of Cricket Association Of Bengal (CAB) Snehasis Ganguly. He will meet with CAB authorities later today to discuss the situation on Tuesday and will publicly announce his decision.

Last Thursday, Tiwary announced his retirement. However, according to CAB sources, he is set to return to the cricket pitch. Bengal reached the semifinals of the Ranji Trophy 2022-23 under Tiwary’s guidance and finished the season as runners-up. He has played in 12 ODIs and 3 T20Is before playing his last game for the country in July 2015 against Zimbabwe in Harare.

Last week, Tiwary posted a sentimental post on his personal Instagram which read, “Goodbye to the game of cricket. This game has given me everything, I mean every single thing which I had never dreamt of, starting from the times when my life was challenged by different forms of difficulties. I will always be grateful to this game and to the GOD, who has always been by my side throughout.”

“Taking this opportunity to convey my sincere gratitude to the people who all have played a part in my cricketing journey. Thank you to my all my coaches starting from my childhood till last year who all have played a part in my cricketing achievements. Manabendra Ghosh, my father figure like coach has been the pillar in the cricketing journey. If he had not been there then I would had not reached anywhere in cricketing circle. Thank u Sir and wish u a speedy recovery, as your health is not keeping well. Thank you to my Dad and Mom, they both never had put pressure on me to focus on studies rather they encouraged me to continue in cricket.”

The veteran of 141 first-class games, is only 92 runs short from reaching 10,000 runs, with 29 hundreds and 45 half-centuries to his name. Despite his lack of opportunities for the national team, he was a frequent performer in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and was a member of the Kolkata Knight Riders squad that won the trophy in the 2012 season under the guidance of Gautam Gambhir.
