Rishabh Pant has grown in stature as a cricketer in the last few months. From being criticized for his irrational shot selection at crucial stages of the match to being praised for his match-winning knocks Pant has traveled a long way in his career.
The star recently took to his Instagram page to express his gratitude and respect for the person instrumental in his rise as a cricketer. Pant admitted in a recent interview that it was his father who always supported him in what he was doing, and it was his encouragement and support that brought Rishabh so far. 5th April will mark the fifth death anniversary of Rishabh’s father who passed away in 2017 suffering from a cardiac arrest.
Rishabh went back to his hometown Roorkee to perform the last rites but came back on time to appear in Delhi’s opening fixture against Bangalore in Indian T20 League 2017. Notably, he blasted a 33 ball half-century in that match. The significance of the innings lies in the fact that the player was fighting an emotional battle from within during the match. On 3rd April, Pant posted an emotional message remembering his father’s contribution to his life on Instagram.
“He loved me for who I was and accepted me for who I was striving to become. Dads are strong for a reason. Their strength gives us a sense of protection. Now that you are in heaven dad, I know you will continue to protect me. Thanks for being my dad. I will always love and miss you until we meet again. – Rishabh’s post read.
