The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 was all about rising Indian talents and youth. From bowling to batting, Indian players dominated the whole tournament. One of the finds of the season was Kolkata Knight Riders’ batter, Rinku Singh. Rinku made headlines after smashing five back-to-back sixes against Yash Dayal in the IPL 2023.
Since then, he has been phenomenal and has helped KKR recover from deep troubles. His performances have not only impressed fans but also KKR opener Shahrukh Khan. His fondness and praise for the young batter were evident when SRK was asked about him on Twitter during the #AskSRK session. A Twitter user asked, “#AskSRK. One word about KKR KA BACCHAAAAA Rinku Singh? #AskSRK @iamsrk.”
In response, Shahrukh praised Rinku and said he is baap, not bachha. He said, “Rinku is Baaapppp!! Not bacha a!!” Notably, it’s not the first time Shahrukh has praised Rinku. He constantly applauded his performance and once said that he would Dance at Rinku’s wedding. Speaking about the same, Rinku had said that Shahrukh told him, “Log mujhe bulaate hain apni shaadi mein, magar main jaata nahi hu. Main teri shaadi mein aaunga naachne. People call me to attend their marriage, but I don’t go. But I will attend your marriage and dance.”
Rinku Singh might get a chance on India’s West Indies tour.
The Indian team is set to face the West Indies in the two-match Test series starting July 12. The series will be followed by a three-match ODI series and a five-match T20I series. Ahead of the upcoming series, fans and news reports are speculating that Indian selectors might pick some youngsters for the T20I series based on their performances in the IPL.
One of the leading names on the list is Rinku Singh. Fans and some news reports believe that Rinku will get his maiden call-up for the national team, as he has been phenomenal throughout the IPL 2023. It’s worth noting that India has announced squads for Test and ODI series, while squads for the T20I series will be picked after the appointment of the fifth selector in the panel.
